If you’ve gone through the process of IVF treatment, then you’ll know there’s a waiting game between finishing treatment and finding out if you’re pregnant.

This can be one of the most nerve-wracking times in your life, and one question often asked is: can you improve your implantation chances after you’ve had your embryo transfer?

There are plenty of things you can do to make you feel like you’re doing something more. IVF treatment is not an easy thing to go through, so expectations are going to be very high with the money spent, the time spent, and the medications injected.

It’s natural to want to do everything possible to ensure implantation happens, so let’s take a look at some of the things you could try out.

Top tips for healthy implantation after IVF

1. Go on holiday!

After you’ve had your embryo transfer, take yourself on a mini break. You’ve just spent weeks of your life going through injections to improve your hormone levels, injections to help an egg release, and then having a medical procedure to implant blastocysts into your uterus. You have been through the mill. So, go and take yourself on a break. Put IVF out of your head, just for a few days, and enjoy yourself. Pick a city you haven’t been to. Head to the countryside. Book a log cabin. No matter what you do, have fun!

2. Implant blastocysts

You could implant more than one blastocyst into your uterus, but it doesn’t mean that two or three blasts are going to take. How your embryos develop will be out of your control, but implanting more than one could be something to consider.

3. Keep your lining in shape

Implantation cannot happen if your endometrial lining is too thin. Your IVF doctor will have checked its thickened levels during the cycle of IVF before the transfer. Your oestrogen format is also important, so make sure that you’re taking pills and patches and anything your doctor recommends to keep your oestrogen levels balanced and normal.

4. Eat well

There are so many foods out there that people will tell you are excellent for implantation. Raspberry leaves, bananas, pineapple, tofu, and 101 other foods claim to have the secret powers of the fertility gods. However, none of it is true. Fixating on specific foods is only going to drive you crazy, and food is not medicine. Instead, eat well to nourish your body and feel good about yourself, keep your energy levels up and stay hydrated.
