When it comes to cakes, it’s fair to say my mother-in-law knows how to make them. This is the creation she produced for my sister-in-law’s 40th birthday this weekend: a quadruple-deck chocolate concoction oozing chocolate icing and jam. With a glass of champers it was just the job – and needless to say it didn’t hang around long!
