They say a tidy house equals a tidy mind, and I don’t know about you but I find that saying so true.
I can’t bear clutter and mess, but with kids in the house it’s not always easy keeping things looking as you’d like them to.
We live and work in a two bedroom flat with four kids, which makes keeping on top of the cleaning and housework a daily task otherwise things descend into chaos quite quickly!
So, if you’re looking for some simple ways to keep on top of things too in this collaborative post here are 5 simple ways to keep your home looking clean and fresh.
5 simple ways to keep your home looking clean & fresh
1. Get rid of unnecessary decor and furniture
The simpler your living area is, the easier it is to keep it tidy. Take a good look around your home and minimise any clutter, especially on lower surfaces. Store away things you don’t need or use regularly to create an overall impression of order.
2. Embrace a minimalistic look
Taking a minimalistic approach can really help to keep your living area looking clean and tidy. It can be hard to be objective when you live in a space every day, but try and look at it through a visitor’s eyes and get rid of anything that doesn’t earn or warrant a place in your house.
3. Look for any underutilised space
Stand in your living area and identify any unused or underutilised space. Perhaps there is a corner that lies completely unused or a space under the table that could hold a basket to store things that don’t need to be out on display.
4. Don’t forget to dust!
Living areas tends to accumulate dust faster than other areas of the house, so they need dusting more often. Focus on the higher ledges and topmost shelves first and then work your way down. As dust travels down carpets and floors should be tackled last, and regular vacuuming of carpets is a must.
5. Tidy as you go
Even if you don’t want to vacuum or dust your living area every day, try and get into the habit of taking a good look around the room once in the morning and once in the evening. Look for any objects that are causing clutter or make the room look untidy and put them away.
Do you have any top tips for keeping your home clean and tidy? I’d love to know what they are!
