Did you know a record number of families are now using foodbanks as a result of the coronavirus pandemic? And that as a result many foodbanks are struggling to meet the demand?
It’s sobering stuff, and I don’t know about you but the thought of a baby going hungry because their parents can’t afford to put food on the table pulls at every heart string I have.
In a bid to try and help the foodbank situation organic baby and toddler food brand Piccolo has launched a One For You, One for Mum campaign matching every Piccolo pouch bought from Waitrose this February with the donation of a pouch to a foodbank.
The aim is to donate more than 50,000 pouches to parents in need by giving them to some of the UK’s top foodbanks including Fare Share, City Harvest and to children’s charities for distribution in local communities to make sure babies and children get the healthy meals they need. Which is where you – and I – come in!
Supporting Piccolo’s One For You, One for Mum campaign
We’ve been asked to help spread the word about the campaign to you lovely lot and being big fans of Piccolo anyway we’re more than happy to help bang the drum!
All you have to do to support the campaign is shop at Waitrose during February, put Piccolo baby food pouches in your trolley and for every pouch you buy a pouch will be donated by Piccolo to a foodbank.
To encourage parents to get involved and support the campaign Piccolo is also giving away £4,000 worth of prizes including a year’s supply of Piccolo baby food, baby gear including car seats and cots and a year’s supply of Naked Wines (that’s my kind of prize!) All you need to do to be in with a chance of winning is email a photo of your receipt to oneformum@piccolofoods.uk.
If you haven’t come across Piccolo before they make organic baby food, snacks and cooking ingredients using vegetables, fruit, herbs and spices based on founder Cat Gazzoli’s Mediterranean roots. The company is ranked in the top 30 most philanthropic businesses in the UK, and gives 10% of its profits to charities.
In return for helping to spread the word about Piccolo’s new campaign we were very kindly gifted a bundle of Piccolo baby food, and we’ve donated that bundle to our local food bank to help families in our area.
So, if you fancy getting involved too all you need to do is head to Waitrose before February 28, buy some Piccolo baby food and Piccolo will take care of the rest – easy peasy!
Have you been donating to foodbanks in your area during the pandemic? I really hope this post inspires you!
Seeing that baby has cheered me up on a dreary morning #mischiefandmemories@_karendennis
So happy to hear that – she cheers me up every single day!
What a great idea! It is sad that foodbanks are so needed right now. Gorgeous Violet pics though ❤️
It is sad but great when a small brand like this is willing to help – I wish the industry giants would do the same as it would make so much of a difference…
#MischiefandMemories ❤️
Great campaign. I Iove it when commercial brands help charities even if it does also make them good marketing wise. Let’s hope for the day where foodbanks are not needed as poverty has gone and communities look out for one another better. #MischiefandMemories
I prefer buying into brands with a social conscience & always hope these types of initiatives are more than just a marketing ploy…
What an absolutely fantastic cause. Well done Piccolos *sends all the high fives. It’s an awful situation to be in, and the current climate has meant even more than before, that ANYONE at all could end up needing to use a foodbank. Hats off, and to you too Crummy Mummy for spreading the word. Thank you for joining us for the #MischiefAndMemories linky xx
That’s so true – it’s really shocking when you look at the food bank statistics since the outbreak of the pandemic. We’re happy to do anything to help!
Well done to Piccolo! I think there is still a stigma attached to going to a foodbank and I hope other brands support our communities and get people fed! Thanks for linking up with #MischiefAndMemories
I think the more it becomes ‘the norm’ hopefully that stigma will be removed, but at the same time it’s so sad if something like this becomes normal…
What a wonderful thing for Piccolo to do! Anything that helps through this tricky time is so welcome! #KCACOLS
It’s a great idea isn’t it!
That is such a great idea from Piccolo. I cannot imagine how devastating it would be to be unable to feed your baby properly. I will be adding piccolo to my shopping for sure. I can add them to my smoothie. #MischiefAndMemories
Please do! Their meals are fab & Violet loves them – especially the green & purple ones!
I love that businesses are doing this. It shouldn’t have taken a pandemic to make it happen – every dollar we spend should give a little to those in need. A rising tide lifts all boats. #KCACOLS
You’re so right – it shouldn’t have taken a pandemic but at least the issue is making headlines now…
Oh what a great campaign – love Piccolo! 🙂 #KCACOLS
thanks for reminding us to help others when and where we can. hope you’re doing ok during the pandemic. cheers #KCACOLS
What a super important campaign, well done Piccolo baby food! It’s also so good to know the food being donated by Piccolo is healthy and nutritious, I will spread the word! Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS
What a fabulous and much-needed campaign – well done to Piccolo! #KCACOLS
So kind of you to donate them to your local food bank and great for Piccolo to be doing such a great campaign. Food banks are so very important particularly at the minute.
