If you’re looking for a winter coat that will also see you skipping into spring then you’ve come to the right place.
I was recently gifted Lighthouse Clothing’s new season Abigail Coat and I’ll be honest: I’m absolutely in love with it!
I always find the period between Christmas and Easter awkward when it comes to coats because I either find myself getting too hot or too cold.
Finding a coat that offers the perfect balance between warmth and breathability is easier said than done, and when I do find one I tend to wear it to death for years meaning good quality is a must.

So, if you’re reading this because you’re looking to invest in a new season coat and want style as well as substance, here’s what I think about Lighthouse Clothing’s Abigail Coat.
Springing into spring with Lighthouse Clothing
‘Live simple, live happy’ – that’s the Lighthouse motto which is stitched next to the zip of the Abigail Coat and is a design touch I haven’t seen before.
Who exactly are Lighthouse?
If you haven’t come across Lighthouse Clothing before think a cross between Lands’ End and Boden (in fact I’m wearing my Lands’ End jeans in all the pictures in this post).
Based in Northern Ireland, their clothes are designed with the great outdoors and everyday adventures in mind with fun, bright colours and patterns.
Waterproof coats are one of their specialities and I was gifted their Abigail Coat in teal (£99.99) for the purpose of this review.
My first thoughts
My first thoughts when the coat arrived is how well-made it is.
With cotton on the outside and herringbone quilted padding on the inside, there’s a fleece lining to the hood and upper part of the coat for added warmth and cosiness in cooler weather.
I love the little affirmation stitched to the lining, and I also love the colour: coats are often boring snoring shades of dark but this one pops with colour to brighten up even the rainiest day.
Is it REALLY waterproof?
The short answer is, yes! We live by the sea where the weather can be rather lively so a waterproof coat that is actually waterproof is a must for everything from weekend walks to the school run.
My favourite features
The hood
One of my biggest bugbears with raincoats is hoods that aren’t big enough, but this one is nice and deep and shelters my face in the wind and rain – even when my hair is in a mum bun!
The hood is also adjustable which gets the thumbs up from me because when the weather’s really bad I can pull it around my face.
The length
With a 3/4 length it’s long enough to keep your legs dry, and there are poppers at the back too for extra versatility – just the job if you find yourself suddenly needing to sprint after a toddler (or head off an oncoming football!)
The phone pocket
The coat features a phone pocket on the inside which is perfect for slipping my phone in & out when chasing children (and footballs!)
It’s machine washable
Which is a must with little people – and sticky fingers – around.
The curved hem
I love coats with curved hems and the Abigail Coat boasts one which accentuates the shape for an added touch of style.
My verdict
If you’re looking for a waterproof rain coat that will not only keep you dry but is stylish too the Abigail Coat ticks all the boxes.
Three colour ways are available – teal, black and brushwood – and if you haven’t bought from Lighthouse before you can get £10 off your first order when you spend over £30 by signing up to their mailing list.
So far there’s nothing I dislike about it – lots of thought has obviously been given to the design and features and I can see why it consistently gets five-star reviews.
An added bonus is it’s super warm if, like me, you happen to be breastfeeding and they need a top-up on the go – and as any breastfeeding mum will tell you, you can’t put a price on that!
I was gifted the Lighthouse Abigail Coat featured in this post. As always all opinions are my own and based on my own honest experience.
I love the fleece lining, I bet its so cosy!!
It really is, cosy at the top and long and waterproof which is just the job!
Always love being introduced to new brands and this one seems great. Thank you!
I’m not quite sure how I’ve missed them up to now but am happy to have found them!
Oh I absolutely love it. This time of year is the worst to know what the heck to wear, isn’t it. This looks like you’ve totally nailed it.
Me too! Best coat I’ve had in ages – I will wear it to death!
