If you’re looking for a new winter coat to get you through the coldest months of the year you’ve come to the right place.

I was recently gifted an expedition parka from Lands’ End 2023 coat and jacket collection, and I can honestly say it’s the warmest, comfiest coat I’ve ever had!

Lands' Ends

If you’re a regular follower you’ll know we live by the seaside, where the weather can be rather lively and unpredictable in winter. A coat for all weathers is a must, because sometimes we literally get all four seasons in one day!

Stepping into winter with Lands’ End

If you haven’t come across Lands’ End before I reviewed a pair of their stretch slim jeans last year after being introduced to the brand for the first time, and they turned out to be the perfect fitting jeans which I’m still wearing today.

Lands’ End sell everything from women’s and men’s clothes to kids’ essentials online, and everything arrives beautifully wrapped and boxed in their signature packaging (I don’t know about you, but you can’t beat an unboxing!)

Their coat and jacket collection has something for every eventuality, and I chose their hooded Expedition Maxi Long Down coat in Evening Cobalt, which is insulated with 600-fill power down for warmth.

Features include:

• Sealed seams
• 100% waterproof
• An adjustable hood with a sherpa fleece lining
• A two-way zip front, popper storm flap & zipped chest pockets – with interior popper pocket too
• Inner rib-knit storm cuffs (so rain water doesn’t run down your arms!)
• A vented hem with poppers
• It’s machine washable

My favourite features

Other than the colour, which I absolutely love, my favourite features about the coat are it’s length, which keeps the wind out; it’s warmth, which keeps the cold out; and the fact I can move freely in it – because as a mum of four taking the kids out on a winter day can certainly be an expedition!

The inner and outer pockets are also a bonus, because anyone with little people in tow will tell you there’s no such thing as too many pockets.

How much does it cost?

The Expedition Maxi has an rrp of £300 and comes in six different colour ways, including blue, black and teal. At the time of writing (December 2023) there’s 50% off the rrp in the winter sale, so it’s £150.

My verdict

If you’re looking for a winter coat to get you through the coldest months of the year you won’t be disappointed. The Expedition Maxi ticks all the boxes, and the cobalt blue colour way will brighten up the darkest winter day.

The pockets are super soft inside – in fact I don’t think I’ve ever owned anything with comfier pockets! – and I know this coat will have my back on plenty of future expeditions with the kids.

I was gifted the Lands’ End coat featured in this post. As always all opinions are my own and based on my own honest experience.
